Redemption Across Time and Space

Xueye lay on the kang, her whole body as hot as a piece of charcoal. The neighbor's aunt reached out and felt her, and another woman from the next household did the same.

They all exclaimed, "Oh, she's as hot as a piece of charcoal!"

Some said the water had been too hot. Others said they shouldn't have poured it over her head. Pouring scalding water on someone was bound to make them pass out.

As everyone talked, her mother-in-law came over and hurriedly covered her with a tattered cotton quilt, afraid she'd catch a chill. But Xueye's body remained burning hot, as if controlled by some mysterious force.

Just then, a dazzling beam of light suddenly flashed across the sky, bathing the entire village in a strange radiance. The villagers all looked up and saw a figure descending from the heavens and landing beside Xueye.
