The Great Sage Among Mortals

At the summit of Flower Fruit Mountain, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong, fought a fierce battle with the Six-Eared Macaque.

They were evenly matched, and in the end decided to ask the Buddha Tathagata to determine which of them was real.

Instead, Tathagata imprisoned Sun Wukong beneath Five Elements Mountain and stole his Dao Fruit and divine abilities.

A remnant of his soul narrowly escaped.

When Patriarch Subhuti learned of what had happened, he found the remnant and spent half of his cultivation nurturing Sun Wukong inside a five-colored stone.

But Patriarch Subhuti was ambushed by the Buddha Tathagata.

With his dying strength, Patriarch Subhuti sealed the passages between the Three Realms.

Ten thousand years later, Sun Wukong was reborn. He swore to fight his way back into the Three Realms and overthrow this unjust world.

But reality was cruel.

The Sun Wukong of today had lost his former divine abilities and could only make a living by performing on the street and working odd jobs...
