The Deities of Fortune Across the Myriad Worlds

Everything in the world has its own destined lot, which can be understood as fortune. Fortune is intangible and impossible to trace, yet it undeniably exists. The stronger one's fortune, the better one's luck tends to be: one can turn danger into safety, find a way out of desperate situations, and see one's wishes come true. Those who can shape the course of an era, for example, are people of great fortune. Every era has one or more such people, and the one with the greatest fortune is the Child of Fortune, or what you call the protagonist. Of course, though fortune is intangible, it isn't unchanging. It shifts in response to what one does and what the people around one do. Sometimes, though, the changes are too small to notice.
