Uncovering the Movie Star: Told to Find Gao Qiqiang, You Find a Tour Guide

In a parallel world, popularity rules and pretty-boy idols are everywhere.

To reverse the decline of the film and television industry, a program launches to discover award-winning actors. Its crew will follow one hundred contestants as they search for real talent.

Whoever discovers the most actors and makes the biggest names for them within a year will win a huge cash prize!

Chu Ran happens to be one of the contestants.

On the first day of the competition, the crew of the hit drama The Knockout needs someone to play a fishmonger.

The other contestants head straight to the market to pick out fish sellers, but Chu Ran finds a tour guide named Zhang Songwen.

Netizens: "That's it? He can pull off Gao Qiqiang's double identity?"

But at the audition, Zhang Songwen blows everyone away, nailing the character's transformation and every little detail.

The crew of In the Name of the People also sends over a task: they need someone to play the man who beats the odds.

Chu Ran sets his sights on a staff member at a children's theater.

Netizens: "A children's theater? He might as well go act in a Snow White play."

But Qi Tongwei, played by Xu Yajun, becomes a sensation with just one line: "Teacher, I want to get ahead so badly."

Soon after, the crews of many other shows, including The Glory of the Ming Dynasty and The Young Marshal, send over tasks as well.
