You Asked Me to Make Chinese Films, So Why Am I Ruling Hollywood?

This book is also known as: You only spent one year in prison, and now you want to sue America?

Reborn in 1974 as a Chinese American, he stands at a turning point in history.

Personal computers are still in development; Apple and Microsoft have yet to be born. Cable television is struggling, and HBO is having a hard time. Home VCRs have yet to be released, and Hollywood movies rely solely on box office revenue. Arcade games are just getting started, and Atari is about to take off!

Chen Sihai, a Chinese American known as Charlie Chen, declares: “Hong Kong beauties, high-tech chip companies, personal computers, video games, anime, cable channels, film studios... I want it all. Only children have to choose!”

Years later, Chinese stars occupy half of Hollywood. Jackie Chan, Lin Qingxia, Zhao Yazhi, Guan Zhilin, Wang Zuxian, Zhang Min...

The media remarked sourly, “The fact that most famous stars are Chinese proves that Hollywood is open and belongs to the whole world.”

In an interview with a biographical reporter from The Wall Street Journal, Charlie Chen humbly says:

“The luckiest thing that ever happened to me was going to prison in 1974... That was the foundation of my success!”
