Three Kingdoms: This Liu Shan Is a Bit Ruthless

To avenge the loss of Jingzhou and Guan Yu's death, Liu Bei led his army in an attack on Wu.

To avoid the enemy's advance, Wu general Lu Xun held his position and refused to fight, and the two sides faced off.

The Shu army had traveled far and faced supply difficulties. Unable to win a swift victory, and with the summer heat setting in, its morale gradually declined.

To relieve his soldiers' suffering in the sweltering heat, Liu Bei ordered the Shu army to camp in the woods for shelter.

Seizing his chance, Lu Xun ordered each soldier to carry a bundle of thatch. When they reached the Shu camps, they set fires and launched a fierce attack.

The wooden palisades around the Shu camps and the surrounding trees were highly flammable, and the fires quickly spread from camp to camp.

The Shu army fell into chaos, and the Wu forces broke through more than forty camps in succession.

Liu Bei barely made it back to Yong'an City. Grieving that all his life's work had come to nothing, he fell gravely ill and summoned Zhuge Liang and Li Yan to Baidi City to discuss what should happen after his death.

He even told Kongming, "Your talent is ten times that of Cao Pi's. You can surely stabilize the state and accomplish great things. If my heir is capable, assist him. If he is not, you may take the throne yourself."

This is the famous historical event known as "Liu Bei Entrusts His Orphaned Son at Baidi City."
