Inside the Great Thunderclap Temple in the Western Heaven.

The Tathagata Buddha sits high upon the main seat.

Guanyin Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva sit on either side.

Every bodhisattva sits in their own place.

A host of bodhisattvas has gathered here.

They are here to celebrate the successful completion of the project to send Tang Monk west to obtain the scriptures.

Tang Monk, the protagonist,

stands up and straightens his clothes.

"Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river."

"Tathagata, you've sat in the Buddha's seat for so many years."

"Shouldn't you give it up and let young people like us have a turn?"

"I nominate myself for Buddha this term!"

"I've said my piece!"

"Who's in favor? Who's opposed?"

"..."

"Dipankara, this is bad!"

"Tang Monk's gone mad. He's actually trying to establish a New Western Heaven!"
