Siheyuan: A Civil Affairs Bureau Clerk Matchmakes Jia Zhangshi

After transmigrating to the world of Love in the Courtyard in 1962,

Wang Shouliang has just graduated from high school and started working as a clerk at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

During the three years of famine, food and non-staple goods are severely scarce, leading to widespread starvation.

The population declines during this period.

The Civil Affairs Bureau actively encourages its clerks to spread the policy of remarriage.

Remembering the mess in the courtyard in 1965, Wang Shouliang begins taking action there.

Wang Shouliang: "Jia Zhangshi, you need to think about yourself. I've got a good candidate here. What do you think of Yi Zhonghai?"

"What, he's married? That's easy. We can 'persuade' them to divorce!"

Wang Shouliang: "Silly Zhu, I heard you want to marry a beautiful, educated young woman with an urban household registration, and she has to be a virgin?"

"As it happens, I've got someone in mind. She's a He, just like you, and her name is He Wenhui!"

Wang Shouliang: "Xu Damao, what are you thinking? How could you marry a capitalist's daughter, and one who can't even have children? You need to think about your future, and your old age!"

"She's too much for you to handle. Let me... Ahem, it's better if you get divorced!"
