Siheyuan: You Won't Share a Bed with Me, Yet You Expect Me to Support You?

Reborn in a Beijing courtyard in the 1950s, He Daqing, the protagonist's father, faces a White Widow who refuses to share his bed and still expects him to support her and her pair of ungrateful children.

If he wants a divorce, he has to leave with nothing, surrendering his house and job to the White Widow?

To hell with that.

He Daqing goes straight to the neighborhood committee and forcibly kicks the White Widow and her children out.

After the divorce, He Daqing's life takes off immediately.

First, he quits his job as head chef at Dexinglou. Before public-private partnerships take hold, he opens a small restaurant, makes his son Silly Zhu the head chef, and puts himself in charge of nothing.

Then he runs for neighborhood committee head, so everything in and around the courtyard is up to him.

From then on, He Daqing's life gets better and better. He even marries a beautiful young wife, and enjoys a warm home with his wife and children.

Under his leadership, the atmosphere in the courtyard gradually changes, too.
