In the city center stands a special traditional Chinese painting academy, the most influential school in the world of Chinese painting. Only those who meet its standards can enter the training program, and they must pass an exam to enroll officially. As the sole direct descendant of the Guan family's landscape painting tradition, Guan Yuqiu began studying at Shanchuan Academy of Fine Arts when she was young. Yet no one at the academy has ever seen one of her paintings, and she has never shown her classmates the work she submitted to gain admission. Zhang Shiqian and Guan Yuqiu grew up together. His admission piece, Autumn, was selected in 2021 as one of the National Top Ten Innovative Chinese Paintings. Students admitted to Shanchuan Academy of Fine Arts all possess certain special abilities. The school has strict selection criteria and entrance exams, followed by successive rounds of assessments. Those with impure hearts will be expelled and forever forbidden from taking up a brush.
