Tales of Xixi

Fourteen-year-old Lin Wanxi married twenty-eight-year-old Yang Shuanglin. They went from rejecting one another at first to falling in love, provoking the jealousy of Yang Shuanglin's former lover, Jiang Chunfang. As Jiang Chunfang harassed and sabotaged them at every turn, their relationship was thrown into crisis. Jiang Chunfang hired people to rape Lin Wanxi, but Yang He, Yang Shuanglin's cousin who had secretly loved Lin Wanxi, devised a plan to give them a brutal lesson. Furious and unwilling to accept defeat, Jiang Chunfang killed Lin Wanxi's daughter. When Yang Shuanglin learned that his daughter had died because of him and witnessed the betrayal of both his wife and cousin, he could not bear the blow and ultimately hanged himself, shattering what had once been a happy family.
