You Were Asked to Make a War of Resistance Film, So Why Did You Make Lust, Caution?

In a parallel world, Wang Ye is reborn as the king of erotic films, a master of absurd comedy, and the son of fifth-generation director Wang Jing.

As Wang Jing's son, Wang Ye has only one rule for making movies: they must be both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. He doesn't care about anything else.

When told to make a film about the War of Resistance, he pulls out the script for Lust, Caution instead. It rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide and turns Tang Wei, who had been languishing as an obscure actress, into a major star overnight.

Wang Ye then strikes while the iron is hot, releasing a string of movies that each earn hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide, including 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, Strange Tales of Liaozhai III, The Monk with the Golden Burning Rod, and The Fruit Is Ripe.

Audiences even name him the King of Erotic Films of the Sixth Generation.

Audience: Is this kind of trashy movie all you know how to make? Can't you make a proper blockbuster?

Wang Ye: You really think erotic films are all I can make? Would I make those if it weren't for the money? You want a real blockbuster? The Wandering Earth, The Battle at Lake Changjin, Water Gate Bridge, Avatar, Star Wars, Jurassic World, The Avengers. Do those count?
