The Earth Is Filthy, It Needs a Good Scrubbing

Beyond human sight, a group of unknown beings keeps Earth under surveillance. They are like shepherds outside a sheepfold, and we are the sheep in their eyes. Earth is the sheepfold. Whenever the sheep get out of line or the shepherds grow displeased, they dispose of every sheep inside and replace them with a new batch. This sheepfold has already been cleared out four times. Now they plan to do it for the fifth time, because the sheep have made the fold too filthy.
