1443: The Revival of Byzantium!

In 1443, the eighth year of the Zhengtong era under Ming Emperor Yingzong, Zhu Qizhen.

The last remnant of the Roman Empire, the Eastern Roman Empire of Byzantium, had reached its final days.

Once a great empire spanning Europe, Asia, and Africa, with the Mediterranean as its inland sea, it was now trapped within a lone city.

Its territory had dwindled to little more than its capital, Constantinople, surrounded on every side by the rising Ottoman Empire.

It could only pay tribute and submit to the Ottomans and to the Venetians, once its subjects, just to eke out an existence.

Everyone knew that the thousand-year-old Byzantine Empire was nearing the end of its fate, soon to be lost in the currents of history.

Only Michael, who awoke to find himself the son of Byzantine Emperor John VIII, refused to accept it.

Standing atop Constantinople, hailed as the city the world yearned for, he gazed out with resolute eyes.

Who says fate is sealed and Rome must fall?
