You Were Only Supposed to Govern a Fief, So How Did You Build a Ming Empire Where the Sun Never Sets?

In the twelfth year of Hongwu, the Ming Dynasty has only just been established. The treasury is empty and provisions are scarce. Zhu Yuanzhang asks his ministers for advice, but none of them can offer a solution.

Just then, a soul from a later age transmigrates into the body of the seventh prince, Zhu Fu. He immediately proposes that there are vast unclaimed lands beyond the ocean, and that conquering them will solve all of the Ming Dynasty's problems.

But Zhu Yuanzhang and his ministers all think he's talking nonsense, and even kick him off to his fief.

Once there, Zhu Fu sets about realizing his grand ambitions: promoting trade, building roads, developing the territory, and preparing for war.

In the fifteenth year of Hongwu, the Northern Yuan invades south. It will take at least a month for the reinforcements sent by the court to arrive, but Zhu Fu's army has already reached the banks of the Muna River. The Northern Yuan suffers a crushing defeat, and the court is stunned.

When Zhu Yuanzhang arrives in Qi to inspect the region, he is so shocked that he stands there dumbfounded.

The cement city walls are a full ten meters tall!

There are elegant, low-rise apartment buildings in the residential district. Buildings fit for an imperial palace, yet they're just homes for ordinary people?

Then Zhu Yuanzhang asks about Zhu Fu's savings and is astonished to discover that he has more money than the imperial treasury!

At that point, Zhu Fu says, "Imperial Father, it's time to launch our expedition."
