The Weary City at Dawn

All his life, Zhao Ran used the pretense of seeking stability to pursue a freedom of his own. In his youth, he thought that however things turned out, it didn't matter, just like... like mountains watching water, while the water flows on and the mountains remain. The person I love can simply go far away, while I simply keep loving them. In the middle of his life, after letting chances slip by, he suddenly wanted to compromise. He wanted to get married, to have a sense of security, to have a home of his own, a place where he belonged, and to have one light among all the thousands of homes left on for him. Later, when he met again the person he loved but could never be with, he finally wanted to follow his own heart: I will never trap anyone in the name of love. After all, the sky is vast and birds can fly wherever they wish. I once said my ambitions reached higher than the sky. Love is nothing. Freedom is my guiding theme: "I wander freely through this world, my whole life spent traveling north, south, east, and west." In the end, three emotions intertwined, forming Zhao's steady yet "free" heart.
