A College Student Returns to the Village to Farm? It's All for Shade Beneath the Grain!

How cruel can people be when there's money to be made?

Can you believe a pesticide company deliberately raised stem borers in rice paddies just to get farmers to buy its pesticides?

After returning to his village, Qin Gengyun, a rice expert with the He Xia Cheng Liang team at the Huaxia Rice Research Institute, discovers that the villagers have been making all kinds of bad decisions under the eager guidance of the Gaoyao Group, an agrochemical company specializing in pesticides and fertilizers!

1. They bought rice varieties that aren't resistant to pests!

2. They applied nitrogen fertilizer like crazy during the stem borers' egg-laying season, making the perfect place for them to lay their eggs!

3. After the Gaoyao Group's young heir, an ecological conservation expert, proposed a ban on burning crop stubble, the company's harvesters still failed to cut the rice close to the ground. The stubble left in the fields was too tall, allowing the stem borers to overwinter inside it!

Now, Guangming Village has as many as 150,000 stem borers overwintering per mu of farmland. They've become a full-blown infestation, slashing crop yields across vast areas and forcing farmers to use large amounts of insecticide to control them!

Qin Gengyun is furious!!!
