Singing in Dialects, Starting a Regional Trend?

Zhu Chen transmigrates to a parallel world.

He makes his debut on the variety-show talent competition I'm a Big Singer.

He introduces himself in the local dialect: "I speak with a proper Henan accent! Can't help it, I've talked like this since I was little. Can't change it! Hope y'all don't mind!"

The audience says, "You can't listen to him talk for even a second without cracking up!"

When asked about rumors that Boss Yang is keeping him, he explains, "Our family has ten thousand mu of good farmland. No one can afford to keep me."

Han Hong falls silent.

Boss Yang falls silent.

Xue Zhiqian falls silent.

Then...

He sings the Henan folk song Old Age Is Hard: "Old age is hard, old age is hard, old age is hard. Young folks, don't look down on the old..."

The audience says, "I've aged enough to enjoy opera early!"

Han Hong says, "I can actually hear Henan zhuizi in that!"

When the song ends, the whole audience is in tears, deeply feeling how hard life is for the elderly!

Then he sings The Rain Bell in the Yunnan-Guizhou dialect: "I can't sleep no matter how I try... I take your hand and sing out the tears in your eyes..."

Xue Zhiqian says, "At first I thought, what is this? Then I gave it some thought. The third time, I was in tears!"

Han Hong says, "Guitar and pipa together, tears streaming down my face..."
