Hong Kong Films: I Became a Big Shot Starting with The Empire of Money

Lu Yaozu transmigrated to the world of Hong Kong action movies and became an ICAC investigator.

The first step to becoming a big shot: cut down the bloated, entrenched black-gold empire and take out the Four Great Detectives to clear the way!

The old money empire collapsed, while the foundations of his own empire began to sprout in the 1970s.

In the 1980s, Lu Nianzu seized his chance amid the chaos after abruptly retiring from his position as head of the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

He purged rival gangs and cleaned up his family business.

He reshaped Hong Kong's underworld, with Hung Hing and 14K both reduced to stepping stones.

He launched a stock-market attack on Li Ka-shing's Cheung Kong Industries and dealt a heavy blow to HSBC, the bloodsucking capitalist giant.

Real estate, stocks, shipping, electricity, film and television, telecommunications: one day, everything would bear the Lu name!

Lu Yaozu didn't just want to be king of the underworld.

He wanted to be king of all Hong Kong!
