The Gods Have Descended

Starting in 2035, mutant beasts began appearing around the world. Some suspected they were products of biological experiments, while others believed environmental destruction had caused the mutations. The beasts became a common enemy of humanity. Under China's leadership, countries around the world set aside their differences and united to fight off their attacks. It was an age of disaster, but also of rapid technological advancement. Drones and exoskeletons developed at an astonishing pace.

Yet even as technology advanced rapidly, the mutant beasts grew stronger and kept humanity under pressure. As sea levels rose, people from coastal cities moved inland. Using its formidable infrastructure-building capabilities, China constructed an Iron Wall to hold back the invading beasts.

As people continued to fight the beasts, they also uncovered a long-hidden secret.

The gods were nothing but selfish slave masters. Ten thousand years ago, they enslaved humanity. Now, ten thousand years later, they have returned, seeking to enslave humanity once more. But humans are no longer helpless prey on a chopping block, waiting to be slaughtered at their whim!
