The novel is adapted from a real case. It tells the story of a talented girl who gradually collapsed psychologically under campus bullying and suffered from mental illness. Although she had great expectations for life and passed the university through her own efforts after recovering from the illness, she was still unable to get rid of the discrimination and prejudice in the society. She eventually committed a crime and went to destruction.
