Journey to the West: The Year the Monkey Taught Xuanzang the Mahayana Buddhist Dharma

Sun Zhangqiu arrives in the world of Journey to the West and becomes Sun Wukong before he is born.

He obtains a Supreme System, giving him the means to avoid becoming a tool monkey.

Tathagata Buddha: The true scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism are all over the Three Realms?

Jade Emperor: The peach trees are gone, too?

Taishang Laojun: My alchemy furnace is gone?

Guanyin: There are two monkeys?

Great Emperor Dongyue: I hereby appoint him the Great God of Subduing Demons.

Sanzang: Mahayana Buddhism? I know a little.

Sun Zhangqiu: “Do we have to wait until the Tang dynasty to fetch the scriptures? I think starting in the Great Qin dynasty would be great. The Hundred Schools of Thought are thriving, and adding Buddhism to the mix would make things lively.”

Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng: “I hereby grant Chen Xuanzang the imperial surname Qin and the given name Sanzang. Go west and show the way... Ahem... Go west and truly fetch the scriptures.”

The immortals and Buddhas of the heavens: What the heck! A journey west to fetch the scriptures? A western expedition? Why not have your Great Qin go to heaven to fetch the scriptures?

Ying Zheng: That's a good idea. What do you think, Great Sage Sun?
