The Great Yan Dynasty

In the seventh year of the Dayan dynasty, a terrible plague suddenly swept across the land. The people suffered greatly, and countless soldiers and civilians died or were injured. The Dayan Emperor sent his third son, Xu Mo, to Mount Longhu to invite Celestial Master Zhang to the capital and put an end to the disaster. Xu Mo arrived at the Shangqing Palace on Mount Longhu and asked Celestial Master Zhang to go to Dongjing and dispel the calamity. As Xu Mo wandered around the palace, he saw a Hall of Demon Suppression in the right-hand corridor. Its doors were tightly locked, with dozens of seals pasted across them. The abbot told him, "A group of demon kings has been sealed here since ancient times. They have been here for many years." He warned the third prince that under no circumstances must the doors be opened. Xu Mo ignored the abbot's warning and ordered his attendants to open them. The abbot told him that thirty-six Heavenly Spirits and seventy-two Earthly Fiends were sealed inside, one hundred and eight demon lords in all.
