Si Yannian: I Filled the National Treasury, Now I'm Going to Drill for Oil

But...

At the time, products like cars didn't exist yet.

Even if the Kingdom of Si emptied its treasury

and traveled all the way to the Holy Maiden Kingdom to develop and extract oil,

it would have no use for it.

Then inspiration struck him.

"Actually, the Holy Maiden Kingdom is full of gold."

"His Majesty just doesn't know it."

**Bell's eyes lit up when he heard this.

"Young Master, is that really true?"

"I am eager to hear the details."

Ling Zhi stood up,

walked over to the bookshelf,

searched around,

and took out a copy of Mengxi Bitan.

He opened it and read:

"There is petroleum in the Fuzhou and Yanzhou regions."

"It is much like thick lacquer, and burns like hemp."

"But it gives off very dense smoke, which blackens any curtains it touches."

"This substance will surely become widely used in the future. I am the first to make use of it."

"Petroleum is plentiful, with an inexhaustible supply underground."

"Unlike pine wood, which will one day run out."

"The oil in the Holy Maiden Kingdom"

"is no less abundant than in Fuzhou and Yanzhou!"

"I added the last two lines myself."

"If Your Majesty joins forces with the Kingdom of Si to extract oil,"

"you will surely accomplish great things."
