A Healer's Heart: Passing Down the Art of Diagnosis

The legacy of traditional Chinese medicine carries the wisdom of Chinese civilization.

People look to Western medicine, relying solely on machines to diagnose every illness and reaping huge profits.

Little do they know that traditional Chinese medicine's methods of inspection, listening and smelling, inquiry, and palpation embody the idea of harmony between humanity and nature.

These methods are the most fundamental way traditional Chinese medicine understands the human body, and the basis for diagnosing and treating each person according to their condition.

For traditional Chinese medicine, true harmony between humanity and nature means learning how the universe affects the body, then correcting those effects to achieve the best possible state.

Traditional Chinese medicine also places great importance on character, or medical ethics.

Doctors who are always thinking about making a fortune once they graduate will never have good medical ethics.

They are even less worthy of being called physicians.

Medicine, Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism all share the same roots. Anyone who studies traditional Chinese medicine and carries on the physician's benevolent heart must understand this.
