Siheyuan: I Transmigrated to a Famine Year, and the Neighbors Begged for Food

Li Ze transmigrated to the era of the courtyard houses.

He discovered that he had arrived in 1958.

In just three months, the great famine of 1959 would begin.

So Li Ze put the knowledge he had learned in the modern world to use, building insulated glass greenhouses to grow vegetables and fruit.

He dug a cellar to store food.

He tore off the roof and turned it into a vegetable garden, raising poultry there to feed his family.

He did everything he could to stock up on enough supplies to get through the famine in three months.

But as Li Ze worked to survive the famine, the residents of the courtyard house put up one obstacle after another.

So Li Ze improved his little garden while matching wits with the residents.

When the famine struck, everyone in the courtyard was desperate.

Qin Huairu: Li Ze, please, save me. I'll do anything for you.

Silly Zhu: Li Ze, for old times' sake, since we've known each other since we were kids... I mean, since we've played together since we were kids, give me a steamed bun.

Xu Damao: I'm so hungry I can barely stand. Li Ze, please give me a bite to eat. I'll get down on my knees!
