The Whale and the Rose

You carefully handed me a rose. We watered it and fertilized it together, waiting for it to bloom, but you broke your promise.

I dreamed about you. In the dream, you were waiting for me by the sea with a rose, so I took a rose and waited for you by the sea. But I never saw you, not even once. We once vowed to grow old together beneath the falling snow. Now all that remains is me, alone and keeping watch.
