This Text Adventure Game Makes You Pay With Your Life

Lin Nan accidentally downloads a game called Exile: Closed Beta.

It's a crude text-based adventure with no graphics, no music, just lines of text and countless choices.

From the start, Lin Nan draws the only hidden relic, the Hourglass of Time, which allows him to turn back time.

You have died! Lifespan -1. Remaining lifespan: 55 years.

Invisibility Potion: Become invisible for 5 minutes after use. Price: 80 years of lifespan.

As he watches the game's rewards materialize in the real world and monsters from another realm appear,

Lin Nan finally understands: this game really does cost lives!
