Delusions of the Classic of Mountains and Seas: Desolate Era

In tribute to: The Tale of Immortal

I never took part in the closed beta. In fact, even by the time I quit the game, I had never once made it into the test server. But I knew it was a good game. I started downloading it a little after 10 a.m. on its launch day. Back then, I worked at an advertising company, which was actually just a lousy shop putting up those damn advertising signs. During a break, I snuck into the internet cafe next door and used its Wi-Fi to download the game. I didn't properly start playing until after work that evening. The moment I got in, I was over the moon. My crappy phone could actually run a game like this! You could customize your character however you wanted, the map was enormous, and you could even raise pets. I was hooked right away.

I played for half a year and experienced so many feelings there that I'd never felt in the real world. I always believed this game was a masterpiece. But I was tired, and I gave up. I was the first to break our ten-year promise.

This year, the pandemic got so bad that I couldn't go out. I thought of the game again. Even though I can't go back, I want to keep it alive in my hands.
