Great Ming: I Blew Through the Treasury from the Start and Made the Old Zhu See Red

In the eighth year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, an imperial order for the arrest of the fifth prince, Zhu Su, sent shockwaves across the land.

Outsiders only knew that the emperor was furious, but not why.

"You rebellious brat! You emptied my Wuying Hall! I'm going to break your legs!"

That's right, Zhu Su had cleaned out Old Zhu's secret treasury.

Zhu Yuanzhang: "I can't take it anymore! I'm going to kill that wastrel!"

Empress Ma slapped the table. "Zhu Chongba, if you're going to kill our son, you'll have to get rid of me first!"

Zhu Biao knelt and pleaded: "Father, you can't kill Fifth Brother. If he's dead, who'll make money for our Ming Dynasty?"

Many years later, Zhu Yuanzhang finally realized that the purse strings of the mighty Ming Dynasty were in Zhu Su's hands.

In truth, Zhu Su's ambitions were modest:

He'd take his birds and dogs out for a stroll,

And come home to a house full of wives and concubines.

He could be a wealthy, carefree prince,

Or a shameless, corrupt merchant.

He could beat up high ministers and nobles, then indulge in wine and women.

Asked why he was such a spoiled brat, he had only one answer: his father was Zhu Chongba.
