A Clash of Legends in Chinese Pop, Jay Chou Competes from the Start

In 2050, Chinese-language pop music was all but dead.

The Golden Melody Awards announced their nominees, and once again, all five contenders for the top prize were popular young idols.

Audiences who had witnessed the legendary clashes of the millennium switched off their TVs with a bitter smile.

“If only they could come back. That would be wonderful...”

The next day, an old man arrived at the competition venue...

Under the glow of high-tech spotlights, he returned to the peak of his career.

“Hello, judges. My song for the competition is ‘Nocturne.’”

When he finished singing, a billion viewers cried out, “Our youth is back!”

On the third day, dozens of legendary veterans of Chinese pop music could no longer sit still.

“Please give us a chance, everyone. We want to take the stage!”

They’re back! They’re all back! The gods of Chinese pop music have returned to their rightful places!
