A Rising Nation Takes Off from a Siheyuan

The 1970s. A public security interrogation room.

"Lin Yuan, come clean: Are you involved in illicit relationships with all the women on this list: He Yushui, Yu Li, Yu Haitang, Qin Jingru, Lou Xia'e, Liu Lan, Xiao Suizi, He Xiaoping, Lin Dingding, Qing Hong...?"

Lin Yuan: "Yes!"

"According to their statements, they all consented. Is that right?"

Lin Yuan: "No! They're all innocent. I forced them."

"Now that's a man! But we are officially informing you that you have committed several serious crimes: forging official state seals, impersonating someone else to register a household, embezzling public funds, profiteering, and hooliganism. Your public trial is next month. You're getting the firing squad for sure!"

"Wait!"

Lin Yuan, still wearing handcuffs, stood up and said gravely, "Please call your superiors. I want to make a deal with Dongguo: I'll trade blueprints for a strategic bomber for a special pardon!"

"What?!"

Everyone turned pale with shock.
