The main storyline focuses on the game, with the real world as a supporting thread.
Ye Zhen has known about Lin Manman's secret identity for a long time, but Lin Manman has no idea. In the game, the story mainly follows Lin Manman's life as a newbie, carried through one adventure after another by a veteran player. Since she doesn't know the game well, she also gets into all sorts of funny situations. Lin Manman's older brother, Duan Anlin, plays a female character in the game and is rumored to be Ye Zhen's in-game partner. Then he unexpectedly hears that he's been cheated on: a cute newbie has appeared by Ye Zhen's side. Out of pride and curiosity, Duan Anlin pays special attention to this newbie and occasionally trips her up. Ye Zhen, however, protects her like a treasure. Little does he know that this newbie is his own younger sister. Ye Zhen wonders what Duan Anlin would do if he found out that the newbie healer he'd killed twelve times in a row was his sister.
The real-world storyline follows Ye Zhen as he works with Lin Manman's older brother, bringing him closer to Lin Manman's life. He gradually gets to know her, steps in when she needs help, and deliberately teases her in the game to cheer her up when she's sad. And when he feels lost, Lin Manman helps him hold fast to his goals and convictions.
