Marshal, I Am Loyal to You

"Commander, I'm loyal to you!" Zhao Yuan declared with utter sincerity.

"You just want to replace me. I'll kill you!" Commander Zhang roared.

A gunshot rang out. A bullet struck Commander Zhang in the forehead, and he collapsed straight to the ground.

"Who did that?" Zhao Yuan shouted angrily.

"Commander-in-chief, you did!" one of his subordinates replied timidly.

After a moment of stunned disbelief, Zhao Yuan looked anguished. Damn it, he really was loyal! He wanted to help Commander Zhang rise through the ranks and defend the country. Only then would he have a chance to return to the future. Why wouldn't anyone believe him?

Not long afterward.

"Commander Wang, I'm loyal to you!"

Commander Wang kicked the bucket.

"Commander He, I'm loyal!"

Commander He kicked the bucket.

"Commander Qian, I'm loyal to you." Zhao Yuan looked utterly sincere.

Commander Qian was terrified and pleaded through his tears, "Don't, don't come any closer! Commander Zhao, whatever you want, I'll give it to you! I'm absolutely loyal!"

Looking out at the vast territory and rows of commanders' underlings, Zhao Yuan was close to tears. "I'm really loyal! How did things turn out like this?!"
