Zhu Yuanzhang: I Just Ascended the Throne, and You’re Telling Me the Ming Dynasty Has Fallen?

Li Luo, over ninety years old, dies peacefully of old age.

When he wakes, he finds that he has transmigrated to Wuyang Village at the end of the Yuan dynasty and the start of the Ming. In five years, he transforms it into a paradise amid the chaos of war.

Liu Bowen, who has just resigned from office and returned home, is impressed by Li Luo's knowledge of past and present, and secretly becomes his student.

In the nineteenth year of the Zhizheng era,

Hu Dahai, a subordinate of Zhu Yuanzhang, captures Chuzhou.

Liu Bowen is forced to join Zhu Yuanzhang's forces, and his ability to predict the future exposes Li Luo's identity as an "immortal."

From then on, Wuyang Village gains a shameless Liu Yuanzhang, who freeloads and takes whatever he can get.

After ascending the throne, Zhu Yuanzhang heads to Wuyang Village, ready to reveal his identity,

but overhears Li Luo telling his student Zhu Biao, "The Ming dynasty will fall after 276 years..."

In the days that follow,

Zhu Yuanzhang establishes new schools and changes the examination system, which had relied on the rigid eight-legged essay.

He measures the land, reforms taxes, and opens sea routes for trade.

He cracks down on corruption, fights graft, secures the realm inside and out, and makes princes and gentry alike pay taxes on their land.
