Ten Years of Study, and Now I Write Strange Tales in a World of Monsters

Reborn as a poor scholar who died in the wilderness while traveling to take the imperial examination, Xu Ming has spent ten years studying and failed the exam ten years in a row. On his way to take it again, a yellow weasel blocks his path and demands that he grant it a title. Only then does Xu Ming realize that this world is not normal: demons and monsters run rampant, and the people suffer.

But Xu Ming awakens the Demon-Slaying System.

The more demons he slays, the greater his cultivation boost!

Slay a yellow weasel spirit and receive the Surging Fist!

Slay a cursed mountain ghost and receive the Five Thunders Orthodox Method!

Slay a corpse-stitching ox monster and receive the Divine Elephant Suppresses Hell Force!

Slay a corpse-refining demon monk and receive the Lightning Movement Step!

Destroy the Demon-Locking Pagoda and receive the Two-Sleeve Green Snakes and the Heaven-Splitting Sword!

Half a year later, in order to slay demons and find out where they are hiding,

Xu Ming sets up a tea stall outside the city, where he takes down notes and compiles Strange Tales.

He records the stories of spirits, ghosts, and monsters that passing travelers have heard and seen, searching for the demons' whereabouts.

The corpse-driving Taoist at the funeral home, the thousand-year-old tree demon at Lanruo Temple, the mysterious poison shadow at Tang Family Fort...

Years later, the book of Strange Tales is complete.

The demons of the world willingly submit to the law.

When they see Xu Ming, they all respectfully address him as Mr. Xu!
