Showbiz: I'm a Director, and I Don't Make Trash

In 2006, Xu Xin had a dream. In it, he saw an entertainment industry where everyone was competing to be the worst. People would do anything to make a name for themselves and go to great lengths to chase traffic. The influx of capital had ruined the whole industry. Directors who made terrible movies could shamelessly claim the moral high ground and criticize audiences for not understanding art. Actors with awful skills could happily collect astronomical paychecks while reciting "one, two, three, four" in front of the camera.

It was an age of giving up. The saying "When the granaries are full, people know etiquette; when they have enough food and clothing, they know honor and shame" seemed like a joke in this industry. Celebrity divorces, livestream selling, scandals... Everything had become a tool for making money, and their shameless greed was utterly repulsive.

Xu Xin didn't know why he had that dream, but he didn't want to become the kind of person he had seen in it.

"I want... to live differently."

And so, he became the young leader of the Northwest film circle, the last person with a conscience in the country's film and television industry, and the perfect husband of the nation's goddess...

"Today, I want to tell everyone, no matter how rotten you think the entertainment industry is..."
