Showbiz: I’m a Washed-Up Top-Tier Star, but My Daughter Makes Me Famous Again

Zhang Ling, a once top-tier star whose popularity had faded, began making a comeback with small commercial performances to prove he could support his daughter and keep from losing custody of her.

News of his seven-year-old daughter dancing alongside him onstage gave his career a modest boost.

On the day of his daughter's school's anniversary celebration, Zhang Ling turned down ten commercial gigs and decided to attend the event with her.

After the father and daughter sang "The Lonely Warrior," they set off a wave of excitement among the elementary school students.

The two of them shot to the top of the trending charts.

None of his choices were for fame or money. He only wanted his little angel to grow up happily.

"Dad, I passed the audition for the variety show Travel Holiday and got a part as one of the child actors. You have to come with me!"

"Dad, the director of Tang Dynasty: Zhenguan says I should play Princess Changle. Do you want to audition for the role of her father?"

After he became a superstar, a reporter asked him what had brought him back to the entertainment industry and helped him reach the very top.

Zhang Ling smiled faintly. "My little angel."
