It was the second shogunate in Japanese history. It was established by Ashikaga Takauji in 1338 and ended in 1573. During this period, there were 16 generations of Muromachi Shoguns. Since the 10th and 12th shoguns were the same person, it is said that it was the 15th generation. Although the Muromachi shogunate lasted for more than 200 years, the country was in war for half of that time. The shogunate was unable to control the military-respecting daimyo, and Japan entered the Warring States Period that lasted for a century and a half.
