A Young Man's Soaring Ambitions

Baili Chuan, a passionate young man full of ambition; Ning Zijin, a refined and gentle young man from a poor family; and Han Jinyan, an ambitious grandson of a noble clan's concubine, were brought together by fate. The three spirited youths met at the height of their youth.

At their sworn brotherhood ceremony, the ambitious Baili Chuan said, "Why shouldn't a man carry a hook-blade and reclaim the fifty provinces beyond the mountains? Invite me to the Lingyan Pavilion, and tell me, which scholar has ever become a lord of ten thousand households?"

The refined and gentle Ning Zijin said, "When brothers stand as one, their strength can break gold. Words spoken from one heart are fragrant as orchids."

Han Jinyan said, "Let's do it!"

Ha! Just kidding. Han Jinyan said, "Know that a young man's lofty ambition once promised to be the finest in all the world!"
