My Son Says, "My Father's Scandal Has Ruined My Career"

More than a decade ago, his agency frantically hyped up scandals about Gao Mingche to keep him in the spotlight.

They turned him into a disgraced megastar, accusing him of throwing his weight around, fighting over billing order, having fans pour out milk to vote for him, buying trending topics, buying fake followers, faking a couple image, plagiarizing other people's songs, and standing up brands, among other things.

When his contract expired, he no longer wanted to be a star famous for all the wrong reasons, so he refused to renew with his agency.

Enraged and humiliated, the agency joined forces with the entertainment industry to blacklist him and his wife, Wang Yutong.

To care for their sick son, he and his wife left the entertainment industry and returned to the countryside, where they lived in seclusion for more than a decade.

This May, his son Gao Yunfei auditioned for a talent show called Supernova of Tomorrow. He earned the highest score in the first round, only to be told that his parents were tainted by scandal. His score was canceled, and he was forced to withdraw.

Gao Yunfei was devastated by this unfair treatment. He could no longer hold his head up, and sank into gloom.

To heal his son's wounds, Gao Mingche, who had left the industry thirteen years earlier, returned to show business at the age of forty, recounting one by one the stories from the past that had been misunderstood.
