He starts out as a Celestial Immortal, tasked with spreading the Dao and destroying Buddhism.

He champions equality for all, equality between humans and demons, equality between gods and demons, and a world united as one.

He pretends to journey west to obtain the scriptures, while secretly subduing every demon king he encounters along the way. Then he raises the red flag and leads a hundred thousand demon kings west, first capturing the Tathagata and then destroying Dipamkara.

He seeks the golden body of his ninth life, inherits Patriarch Bodhi's teachings, and ascends to the realm of the Great Heavenly Venerable.

In the end, he spreads the Dao and destroys Buddhism!
