About My Rebirth as a Pale-Faced Scholar

Nangong Cheng is a down-and-out unemployed college graduate. To make ends meet, he takes a job hauling cargo at a mine, only to accidentally fall off a cliff. He winds up in the Dragon Dynasty, a place resembling ancient China during the Song or Ming dynasties, and becomes a poor scholar in Cottonflower Town. After sitting the imperial examinations more than a hundred times, he still hasn't earned a single title. He starts by escaping poverty and getting rich: he launches a magazine reporting all the gossip that busybodies love to read, forms a club so he can enjoy being the one in charge, takes on the Red Lotus Sect, an anti-government armed group, flirts with a princess, helps the crown prince go astray, and, under imperial orders, roots out corrupt officials while taking the opportunity to line his own pockets. He spreads advanced culture to Japan, that sort of culture, trains a group of extraordinary students with all kinds of special skills, pacifies the northern nomads, establishes the Dragon Dynasty's maritime supremacy, and advises the emperor to implement a series of policies to enrich the nation and strengthen its people. Every one of these deeds is beyond the capabilities of an ordinary scholar, so the people of the Dragon Dynasty honor him as the White-Faced Scholar. His astonishing exploits and strange adventures are too numerous to count, and beautiful women even throw themselves at him.
