Memorial to the Throne from the Start

The memorial to the emperor protesting the court's policies would ruin my career. I can't do that.

To achieve great things, Ye Yushi denounced the reformists and pledged his allegiance to the Empress Dowager.

He copied Harry Potter, opened a match factory, and trained a new army in the Western Hills.

Then came the national crisis of 1900.

Ye Yushi staged a mutiny in the Western Hills, was proclaimed emperor, and led three thousand new troops eastward, sweeping all before them. The Japanese fled at the mere mention of his name.

Ye Yushi ascended the throne atop the Gate of Heavenly Peace, taking Heaven as his reign title and naming his era Tianwu. He began a glorious reign that would be remembered for generations, and history would call him Emperor Tianwu.
