Zhu Jianji of the Great Ming: Why Has the Retired Emperor Rebelled?

After transmigrating, he became Zhu Jianji, the son of the Jingtai Emperor who was supposed to die in infancy.

The court was divided into rival factions:

The old guard, still loyal to Zhu Qizhen, and the Empress Dowager's faction.

The imperial clan, eyeing the throne.

And the civil officials, who wanted the emperor to rule without interfering while they controlled the court themselves.

Four years later, the Jingtai Emperor died.

Zhu Jianshen held the Jingtai Emperor's edict in his hands and looked at the God of War of the Great Ming, Zhu Qizhen, standing with a sword outside the bedchamber.

He slowly asked, "Retired Emperor, why are you committing treason?"
