War of Resistance: I Broke Out of the POW Camp, and the Whole Army Wept for Me

During the Battle of Cangyun Ridge, the New First Regiment suffers heavy losses, and many wounded soldiers are unable to keep breaking through with the main force.

Wu Qianli volunteers to stay behind with a handful of soldiers to protect the wounded, but the enemy eventually discovers them.

To complete the mission, Wu Qianli swallows his pride and pretends to surrender. Not only does he save all the wounded, he also frees a large number of prisoners of war.

But the outside world does not know the truth. Li Yunlong and the Eighth Route Army headquarters believe he has become a traitor.

With Japanese troops everywhere and the units relocating, Wu Qianli has nowhere left to go.

Resolute, Wu Qianli decides not to return. He will build his own forces with the wounded and the prisoners of war.

He seizes territory and supplies, leading his steadily growing force on raids far and wide!

Three months later, an army with an armored division, an artillery division, a tank division, a rocket artillery division, and an air squadron sweeps across northwestern Shanxi.

At last, the Eighth Route Army learns what Wu Qianli has really done, and the entire army is moved to tears.

Li Yunlong: I wronged Wu Qianli. I won't be able to live with myself for the rest of my life.

Yoshio Shinozuka: From now on, never trust anyone who surrenders. They're all liars.
