Folk Tales of the Supernatural in Rural Northeast China

My great-uncle lived near Xinlong City in Northeast China, in a place called Dading Mountain. He was fifth among the siblings in his family, and he was my only great-uncle. When I was little, I had a lisp and called him "Tiger Great-Uncle." He'd scold me whenever I called him that, so eventually I just called him Great-Uncle. I had no other great-uncles anyway, so there was no chance of mixing them up. He was the village head, and whenever there was trouble between neighbors or anything else going on in the village, he was always involved. I practically grew up there. A lot of strange things happened there, and I heard some of them from the village elders. I've been surrounded by all kinds of paranormal stories for as long as I can remember. Starting today, I'll tell you the paranormal stories I've heard.
