Journey to the West: Lying Flat and Making a Comedy

Xuan Ye transmigrates into Journey to the West as Sun Wukong, and unexpectedly activates a life-for-strength System. The only way to gain more lifespan leaves him with no choice but to lie flat.

From then on, he stops cultivating and gives up causing Havoc in Heaven. Sunbathing and sleeping in become his daily routine.

And so the whole tone of Journey to the West changes.

Patriarch Bodhi: "Wukong, please! Learning the Dao can grant you immortality. Aren't you tempted?"

Sun Wukong: "Immortality? Why live that long? The longer you live, the more troubles you have. I don't want it!"

Sun Wukong: "Why learn so much? A tall tree catches the wind. If I can't do anything, no one will challenge me!"

The Celestial Emperor Haotian: "Sun Wukong, aren't you going to cause Havoc in Heaven? Are you really fine with being a low-ranking stablemaster like Bimawen?"

Sun Wukong: "This laid-back job is just the best. Why would I make trouble in Heaven?"

Tathagata Buddha: "You can attain enlightenment by fetching the scriptures. Don't miss this opportunity!"

Sun Wukong: "Fetch what scriptures? How boring! I've already become a sage of the Great Dao. What use is a pilgrimage?"
