Ding! Host has received a critical bonus: hybrid rice seeds of the linked-variety strain.

At this time, the aging founding emperor of the Ming dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang, is deeply worried about who will inherit the throne. Then, out of the blue, he learns a secret from the Imperial Guards.

Several carriages arrive beside a village outside Jinling. A group of people get out, and among them is none other than the Ming emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang.

Zhu Yuanzhang approaches the rice paddy and carefully counts the rice stalks: one ear, two, three, four...

The more he counts, the quicker his breathing becomes...

At the grand court assembly, an official reports: "Outside Jinling, Heaven has bestowed an auspicious sign for the ages. It is a kind of rice called linked rice, with plump grains and a yield of 900 jin per mu. Birds of every kind gather to feast on it."

Zhu Yuanzhang smiles faintly. "That's the rice my good grandson grew."
