Winning People Over with Reason: From Martial God to Sage

Cai Ping sat at the head of the conference table, a massive spiked club resting across his lap. Behind him stood the summoned book spirits Yang Jian, the Nine-Tailed Fox, Lu Zhishen, and others.

He addressed the powerful representatives of the various clans invited to the hall.

"As you all know, I'm a man of letters. Although I accidentally became a Martial God, that was never my dream. I've gathered you all to hear your opinions. I want to follow the path of the Literary Sage and become one. Who's in favor? Who's against?"

"I'm against it. You can't even use Confucian arts, so how can you become a Literary Sage?" the Wolf King's voice rang out.

There was a sudden crash as the spiked club hit the floor, smashing a huge hole in tiles sturdy enough to withstand a second-grade attack.

"Sorry, I startled you all. This club is just too slippery. What was it the Wolf King just said? I'm getting old, and my hearing isn't what it used to be."

Everyone looked at the iron studs covering the club, then at Cai Ping's youthful face, and fell silent.

"The Martial God is a genius among geniuses, with several novels that will be passed down through the ages. Becoming a Literary Sage suits you perfectly. Whoever opposes you, this old wolf won't stand for it!"
